Obsessed with the x files episodes where like someone will go missing and they’ll go to the victim’s last known location and see like a normal ant crawling around and mulder will go “I think the victim was kidnapped by two hundred ants disguised as a human being who took the victim because they need to digest organic matter in order to have the strength to build a giant anthill” and scully will go “that’s insane” but mulder will literally be right beat for beat

I'm enjoying the progression a lot but the main thing remains that the combat is so fucking good. I'm always excited to find new enemies even if I do think I might have gotten a liiiittle overleveled for where I am in the game (I'm not using any of the dlc items! I think I just played too much) but like. aaah wow.
When you're fighting some new challenging enemy for the first time and you figure it out and it goes down and THIS KICKS IN
Specifically there was a moment playing through the main story, and you are tasked with hunting down a Griffin that has been harrying convoys on the road. The first two encounters you have with it end with it flying away before you can get any decisive hits in. It flees back to its nest, found in the absolute ass-end corner of the map. Getting there takes a couple of hours at least, not counting getting sidetracked by various monsters en-route. When you finally get there, you have to fight your way to the top of a ruined tower, the company of soldiers that tagged along getting picked off one by one by the beast as you make your way to the top.
Finally, you reach the apex and it's time to put it down once and for all. This is where things might vary, but if you bothered to complete the sidequest for Steffan earlier, he actually arrives here to assist you with killing the Griffin. He casts an explosion, setting the monster's wings ablaze as it's sent hurtling to the ground, unable to flee again as the above song kicks in. It's SUCH an insanely satisfying moment.
